I busted out the dye pot! Yippee, what a wonderful feeling! I was ripping into wool blankets and skirts and blazers and scraps! It was a crazy mess in my studio this evening! Woolie chaos! I hope the momentum doesn't stop. I've brewed a batch of dye to marry a few odd colours and warm them up. We'll see in the morning how they turn out. I brewed them for about an hour on low and I'm going to let the batch cool down and steep overnight, with the heat off.
The work is all about a kit request for my large rug.
It seems like yesterday when I made this rug, but is was in early 2007.
The pennies are 3", 2" and 1 inch.
I will be sharing instructions for this kit. Yes, believe it...but, yes, please hold your breath so I can assemble the wonderful photos to share. I have to put words to the photos.
I know, a pictures says a thousand words but some folks need it written down...
I will be making up several kits, no sense making just one!
I love the rug ~ can't wait for the instructions!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI like that nice white pot you're using. It shows the dyes colors so much better than the darker enamal pots. I've been on a search for a white enamel one, but haven't had any luck.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Wow, how big is that rug? Did it take you long to make? It looks wonderful on your wall. I watching for the instructions.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.

The pot was a great find last year, it's big!. It was new and a discounted price at the Winner's store near me.
ReplyDeleteThe rug is approximately 40" x 20". So, if you want to follow along, find a nice piece of wool or cotton that is about 1 inch longer and wider.
It took me about 3 or 4 weeks, on and off...I can't really remember. I always take the pennies with me for when I'm waiting around for things, like doctors or when hubby is driving us somewhere. I do the assembly later at home.
Your blue bowl looks good on the shelf! Looking forward to the instructions for the rug. It's gorgeous!
